Steve O'Donnell is a Democrat running for the U.S. Congress to help put our nation back on the right track. He opposes George Bush's war in Iraq. He wants our troops to come home and use the money now being spent in Iraq on much-needed domestic priorities like:

Born in Homewood, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1945, Steve O'Donnell is a lifelong resident of western Pennsylvania who grew up in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. He is an honorably discharged veteran who volunteered to serve in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Steve served as a corpsman and operating room technician at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. After his military service, he worked his way through college and graduate school - holding a number of jobs including working in the “Open Hearth Furnace” division of Jones and Laughlin Steel.

In 1971 Steve graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelors degree in education and went on to earn a masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University in 1973.

After working at the Western Penitentiary Correctional Institution, Steve took the helm of the Westmoreland County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Citizens in 1974, where he served as Executive Director until 1989, when he left to run another Westmoreland based multi-faceted service provider for adults with mental retardation.

In 1995, Steve and his wife Carol, took over and began running Nisar, Inc., a company that provides special-needs services to families and children with behavioral health problems. In 1999, he helped form ROAM Investments, Inc., a southwestern Pennsylvania based holding company where he served as the Managing Partner until 2005.

Steve served on the Monroeville Human Needs and Resources Advisory Board and has been active in the American Red Cross and the Westmoreland County Private Industry Council. He was active for a number of years as a volunteer with his children's youth swimming clubs. Steve and his wife, Carol reside in Monroeville, where they raised their two children, Megan and Ryan.
